Supporting Reading at Home

Students are encouraged to read every night, even on weekends. To foster their growth as a reader, it is important for students to constantly talk about what they are reading. The following link is a tool that will help to encourage conversations about books. Please use it as often as possible!

Reading Logs:

Students will be assigned reading logs once per week. The requirement is to read for 20+ minutes per night, for a total of 80 minutes per regular school week. Reading logs must have a parent signature to verify that the student has read the required amount. Usually, the reading log will also come with a reading assignment on the back in which the student will be responsible for practicing a reading strategy that was taught in class. Each week or two, there will be a new strategy to practice. Make sure to carefully follow the instructions for each assignment.
